Mod Junior Gig - Whisky
Local band "Whisky" played in the Pentland Hotel on Tuesday night for the Mod Fringe Junior Gig. The low lighting was a nightmare to cope with. The kids enjoyed the night with eightsome reels, dashing white sergeant etc.
Mod Fringe - Ready Steady Cook
The Mod Fringe staged two Ready Steady Cook events today at the North Highland College. One in the afternoon and one in the evening, which I attended. A poor turn-out meant that there was lots of lovely food to eat at the end! The two girls were nervous, but did a fantastic job to cook 4 different meals in an hour.

Mod Surfing
The Mod Fringe held a surfing taster event at Dunnet beach today. Sheila Finlayson and Mike Heddle organised the event and gave tuition to four groups of around 7 people. The weather was very calm so the waves were small, just perfect for learning.
Mod Junior Gig - Face The West
The Mod Fringe staged a gig for kids at the Weigh Inn Hotel last night. The band was "Face The West" from Stornoway. 250 adults and kids attended.
Skerryvore
The concert after the Mod's opening ceremony last Friday featured Skerryvore, viewed by many as the new Runrig. They played at most of the Scottish music festivals this summer.
Craig Shearer Sportsman's Dinner
The last event in Craig Shearer's testimonial year was a sportsman's dinner held in the MacKay's Hotel on Saturday night. The P&J's Dave Edwards was MC and the guest speakers were John Gahagan (ex Motherwell and Morton) and Frank Robb. Both speakers had everyone in stitches with their totally different styles of humour.
East End Boys Club vs Tain
The Mod held a junior football challenge match between East End Boys Club and Tain on Saturday. Two age groups (U13s & U15s I think) played 5-A-Side at the same time. East End won both fairly easily.
