Halkirk vs Wick Thistle

I caught most of the 2nd half of the Highland Amateur cup game between Halkirk and Wick Thistle.  The game finished 0-0 and went into extra time. Lee Elder scored to give the mis-firing Halkirk side a lucky win. The Halkirk keeper had 3 or 4 outstanding saves to keep Thistle from winning.

Caithness "Old Boys" vs Andy Knight's Stag Party XV

Andy Knight's Stag Party XV proved too strong and fast for the Caithness Old Boys in the pre match "entertainment" for the Sinclair Cadzow Memorial Cup. The standard was surprisingly high and the match was competitive with no holds barred.

Peter Knight senior made a surprise appearance and played for the whole hour. There were plenty of tries for both sides and I lost count of the score.

Caithness Rugby - Sinclair Cadzow Memorial Trophy

The Sinclair Cadzow Memorial trophy was played at Millbank today between Caithness RFC and Caithness Exiles/students. Caithness RFC were losing with 5 mins left, but just won 33-24. Alastair Cadzow's wife Belinda came all the way from New Zealand to present the cup to captain Andy Morris.

Andy Knight held his stag weekend in Inverness and Thurso, with nearly 50 of his mates travelling up from Edimburgh. A Stag Party select beat the Caithness Old Boys in a match before the main game. The game was marred by a Caithness player being seriously injured and requiring an ambulance.

It was a great sunny day with a cracking BBQ and a huge fund raising raffle. Everybody is heading to the Weigh Inn tonight for a Stag Party dinner and I'm sure there will be a few sore heads tomorrow!

Cycling 24 Mile Hilly TT

The second race of the Caithness Cycling Club racing weekend was a 24 mile TT on the hilly Loch Calder course at 10am on Sunday. The cyclists were much closer to me than on the Saturday and so it was even more difficult to get a good sharp panning pic.

Castletown vs John O'Groats

At the game tonight, Castletown were losing 3-1 to John O'Groats when I left with 10 mins to go. A tight match with lots of tough tackling in the midfield.
