Clic Sargent Charity Boxing Day Sea Dip

The charity Clic Sargent, for children with cancer, are organising a Boxing Day sea dip at Thurso Beach.  Six brave souls had some practice on Saturday for some PR shots.  I wonder if the weather will be so kind on 26th Dec!

Haunted House

The Thurso Fire Service held their 7th annual Haunted House event in the premises of E&M Engineering old workshop.  Staged over Friday and Saturday, hundreds of kids and adults got the fright of their lives, all in aid of charity.

Having done this with Thurso Round Table many years ago, I know the incredible amount of effort that is needed to stage this event.  Well done to everyone involved, it was excellent.

Halloween at the Comm Bar

2nd prize

1st prize

3rd Prize

The Comm Bar in Thurso held a Halloween party tonight and the place was jumping.  I was asked along to take pics of the prizewinners and found it hard to get enough room to take any.

The very scarey group of zombies that won, came from the Thrumster area.

I eventually managed to get a pic of Scott and some of his bar staff at 11.30pm. They were dressed up in a horror circus theme.

Thurso vs Halkirk Utd

Mark Nichol scores for Thurso inside the first 10 mins, but the goal was disallowed.

Michael Gray guess's the right way for Halkirk's penalty, but just failed to keep it out.

Halkirk Utd beat Thurso 4-0 at the Dammies today.  The strong wind affected the game, which turned out to be a scrappy affair.  Halkirk took full advantage of the wind in the second half and scored all 4 goals in this half, including a penalty and a 30 yard screamer of a free kick.

Caithness RFC vs Newton Stewart

Caithness beat Newton Stewart 63 -10 today at Millbank. I think it was 10 tries to 1 and Evan Sutherland scored 4.  Captain Andy Morris scored a lung bursting try with a breakaway run (last pic).

The weather was mixed, with long showers in between brilliant sunshine.

Wrestling

Wrestling Events UK are doing a tour of the country and the venue on Sunday night was the Weigh Inn Hotel, Thurso.  Lots of kids and a few adults enjoyed the 2 hours of entertainment provided by the likes of  The Viking Warrior (who scared a few of the younger kids), Skull Murphy and Drew "The Highlander" MacDonald , who hates the Scots!
The lighting was poor and even at f2.8 and ISO 6400, I was only getting a shutter speed of around 1/80th sec, so couldn't freeze the fast moves.
