Pentland Utd entertained Staxigoe Utd in the quarter final of the Colin MacLeod Memorial cup last night in Dunnet. A large crowd watched a start-stop game in brilliant sunshine. Ref Stephen Tait flashed the yellow card 9 times and the red once (to Pentland Utd's Michael Petrie for two bookings). 8 of the bookings were for bad tackles. Two were for flying in with studs up and could have broken a leg.
Pentland Utd had most of the play in the first half, but the final ball was terrible. James Murray opened the scoring late in the first half when a defence splitting pass put him through one on one with Daniel Budge and he cooly slotted the ball past. In the second half, Luckasz Geruzel weaved his way to the line and cut back to Ross Allan who bundled the ball over with a strong suspicion of hand ball. James Murray showed his class for the 3rd by hitting a pass on the turn, without looking at the goal and it hit the net from 25 yards out.
John Budge got one back with a cracking flying header from a free kick. It was all Staxigoe after that, but despite some good chances they couldn't beat Michael Gray. Luckasz Geruzel got a 4th against the run of play when he cooly chipped Daniel Budge, ran around him and had a simple tap in.
