I caught the first half of the Thurso vs Halkirk Utd cup match a very wet Dammies. Halkirk led 1-0 at half-time due to a Grant MacNab goal and the Anglers should have scored a couple more. Thurso turned it on in the 2nd half to win 3-1.

Wick just lost out to Turriff Utd by 4-3 in a thrilling match at Harmsworth Park today. Turriff scored 2 goals in the last 5 mins to snatch all 3 points.

Andrew MacAskill scored for Turriff after 10 mins and the visitors dominated the first half until Davie Allan scored with a rare header on 38 mins. Gary MacGowan scored in the 58th min to put Turriff in front and Academy were struggling until Sam MacKay came on as sub in 62nd min and Steven Anderson-Harrison in the 66th min. Sam crossed for Steven to score in the 70th min.

Davie Allan scored in the 76th min and Academy were all over Turriff and could have scored more. However, the visitors scored in the 88th and 91st minute to send their fans and bench wild with delight.

Owen Harrold goal

I caught the first half of the Thurso vs Sutherland Utd game, before heading to the Halkirk vs Orkney match. Owen Harrold scored a cracking goal midway through the half, with a volley from the edge of the box that hit the postage stamp corner. Sutherland played well, but faded in the 2nd half and conceded 5 more goals.

Halkirk Utd beat Orkney 2-1 in the Ness cup to inflict the islanders first defeat of the season. Orkney had a much changed side, giving the fringe players in their huge squad a game.

Grant MacNab scored early in the 2nd half and Orkney equalised with a 30 yard high looping shot that dipped under the bar and over the head of Daniel Budge. Gordie MacNab was brought down in the box with a few minutes left and he scored from the spot, but only just as the keeper got a hand to it.

Thurso beat Sutherland Utd 6-0 (pics later). Wick Academy beat Deveronvale 1-0 away and stay top of the league.
