Caithness Utd U13s vs Orkney

Caithness Utd U13s played Orkney at the Naver all weather pitch yesterday and won 3-1. Both teams turned up in red strips and Caithness had to wear yellow bibs to avoid confusion. The photo above is the third Caithness goal.

Thurso FC vs Golspie

Colin Gregory took photos at the Thurso vs Golspie game last Saturday, which was played in torrential rain. Thurso won 6-1. They changed into striped shirts at half-time as they got soaked.

Caithness RFC vs Kilmarnock

As I was busy taking photos at my Cousin Ann MacKay's wedding last Saturday, Colin Gregory stepped in to take photos at the Caithness RFC vs Kilmarnock game. Caithness lost 30-23 and it was the second game in a row that they have lost at home.

Smokie at the Waterfront

Smokie went down a storm at the Waterfront in Wick last night. Over 500 were entertained for 1.5 hours with the encore's finale being their most famous song "Living next door to Alice". The group still has one original member Terry Uttley, who plays bass guitar and vocals. The only other Scottish date on their world tour is Dundee. See www.smokie.co.uk.

The band were last in Wick in 1970 and really enjoyed the gig, especially as some of the girls kept blowing kisses to the band!

Halkirk Utd vs Thurso

I caught the first half of the Halkirk Utd vs Thurso semi-final match, before going to the Wick vs Clach Scottish cup replay. Halkirk won 3-0 and face Muir of Ord Rovers in the final.

Wick Academy vs Clach

Wick striker Gary Weir was the two goal hero yesterday as Wick beat Clach 2-1 in the Scottish Cup replay. Gary scored in the last minute to the delight of the large crowd. All my best pics feature Gary as he tormented the Clach defence throughout the second half.

The Sunday Post wanted some action pics and I also sent a few to the other national newpapers, so need to check them out today and Monday to see if they used any.

Caithness Regeneration Conference

I was invited to take photos at the Caithness Regeneration Conference in Wick today. I normally turn down requests for weekday shoots, but as it was such a big and important conference, I decided to give it a go. It was my first experience of such an event. The poor lighting in the Assembly rooms proved a challenge!

Jim Murphy MP, Secretary of State for Scotland (above second right) was present and proved a big hit with his witty speech. The delegates split into 5 groups to discuss topics (such as tourism and engineering) that need to be addressed during the run down of Dounreay. As well as taking photos of the speakers, I snapped away during the tea breaks and while the groups were in session.
