Caithness lost out in the National Shield Final at a very sunny Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld to Preston Lodge by 27 points to 6. Over 400 Caithness fans watched the match which saw Liam Brims kick the Greens 3 points into the lead after only 5 mins. However, the Prestonpans side were much stronger and faster and ran in a few tries in both halves. The Greens had two players sinned binned in the first half which didn't help the cause. Liam kicked another penalty to be the only scorer.

Kris Hamilton scored a try late on in the game, but it was disallowed for an infringement. The players received runners up medals for their season's efforts.

Caithness RFC were training at Millbank on Tuesday night in preparation for playing in the National Shield final vs Preston Lodge at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld on Saturday. It s the club's biggest game in their 52 year history.

Thurso beat Halkirk Utd 1-0 in the semi-final of the Football Times cup at the Dammies today. Mid way through the first half, Daniel Budge, the Halkirk keeper, dropped a high ball and Marc MacGregor had a simple tap in.

Halkirk had the strong wind behind them in the first half and had a few good one-on-one chances, but keeper Graeme Williamson was in top form. There were lots of bookings for dissent and Graham MacNab picked up two and was sent off early in the 2nd half. Thurso hit the bar in the 2nd half, which lacked any real action.

Halkirk played Thurso in the semi-final of the Ness cup at Morrison Park tonight. Thurso took the lead with a stunning 25 yard free kick from Colin Sinclair that went in via the postage stamp corner. After a flurry of 4 bookings,  Halkirk scored two to go in at half-time 2-1 up. Colin Sinclair scored with a penalty to take the tie straight to penalties.

Halkirk missed one penalty with a good save by Graeme Williamson and Michael Petrie kept his nerve to score the winner.
