League play-off. High Ormlie Hotspur vs Wick Thistle

2nd Division High Ormlie Hotspur won a dramatic play-off versus 1st division Wick Thistle on penalties at a very wet Morrison Park, Halkirk. Watched by a huge crowd, Spurs were leading 3-2 with 5 mins left and their goalie Asa Sinclair saved a penalty. Thistle then scored direct from a corner in the last minute (thanks to a strong wind) to take the tie into extra time.

Asa Sinclair was the Spurs hero by saving 2 penalties in the shoot out. A cracking game with plenty of goalmouth action and some fantastic saves by both James More and Asa Sinclair. The packed stand applauded the great action on numerous occasions.

Shinty - Caithness v Sutherland

Caithness and Sutherland shinty clubs played for the Nostie cup today at Viewfirth green. I caught some of the 2nd half and Sutherland were well on top and scored 3 while I was there. Sutherland won the cup.

Caithness RFC vs Carnoustie (39-19)

Caithness RFC beat Carnoustie 39-19 in a pulsating match at Millbank today. The Greens were 17-0 up before Carnoustie came storming back with 3 tries to make it 19-17. The Greens pulled away mid way through the 2nd half to win comfortably.

Gary MacKay celebrates scoring winner

I managed to catch the last 30mins of the Thurso Acks vs Pentland Utd match at Ormlie tonight. Acks were 3-1 up at half time, but Utd stormed back to win 4-3. James Murray scored a hat-trick for Utd and Gary MacKay scored the winner with a bullet header. The win was to no avail as Wick Groats beat John O'Groats 3-1 to win the 1st division championship by 3 points.
