Halkirk Utd vs Golspie

6 goals, 3 sent off and at least 10 bookings ( I lost count) should have meant a cracking game, but it was the least enjoyable game I have ever watched. The game wasn't even that dirty as far as tackles went.

Every decision against Golspie was met with vigourous dissent by their players (and officials) and the ref duly got the yellow and eventually the red cards out.  I think most of their team landed in his black book and a few Halkirk players were also added . Golspie got 2 sent off and Halkirk's Gavin Henderson also got his marching orders (all late on in the second half).

Halkirk won 4-2, with Grant MacNab, Martin Bain, Liam Bremner and Lee Elder scoring. Golspie scored first with a high looping ball that caught out keeper Graeme Williamson (last 2 pics).

Thurso beat Bonar Bridge 5-0 and Wick Academy drew 3-3 in Nairn, by scoring the equaliser with 2 mins to go. It was Wick's first away point of the season.

Caithness RFC had a free weekend due to the Scotland vs New Zealand match (Scotland lost 3-49).

Halkirk Utd vs Muir of Ord

I caught the first half of the SWL cup tie between Halkirk Utd and Muir of Ord. It was 0-0 at half time but Muir scored in the second half to win 1-0 and remain as Halkirk's bogey team.

Lots of fouls and a few bookings, with some players lucky to stay on the pitch.

Thurso beat Invergordon 4-1 in the cup final that was played in Golspie.

Caithness RFC vs Allan Glens

Caithness beat Allan Glens 24-11 today at Millbank for their 4th win on the trot.  I caught the second half when the score was 8-8.  Stevie Campbell scored a cracking try (pics above) and was voted man of the match by the sponsors Mackay of Halkirk.  Peter Knight handed over the man of the match bottle of port to Stevie on behalf of Hugh John MacKay.
Liam Brims was substituted and full back Blair MacIntosh took over the No. 10 position and also the kicking duties.

Halkirk Fireworks Display

Halkirk's annual firework display was held tonight at the riverside in front of a large crowd.  The 40 min display was held in dry weather, apart from a light 10 min shower.

SWPP awards for Oct

I was awarded two silvers in the SWPP monthly competition for October. The cycling pic was taken during the Caithness Cycling Club's racing weekend and the other was taken at the 2010 Scottish Cup Final.

Website upload problems

I cannot update my website's gallery with the pics taken at the weekend - a problem with the computer software.  Hope to get it sorted later this week.

Seagulls in flight

During the Thurso vs Halkirk Utd match on Saturday I was practically attacked by a flock of seagulls who were trying to pick up a piece of cake that was on the ground behind me.  I managed to get some pics of them directly above me.  A perfect blue sky in the background.
