I have added a gallery to my website, for my landscape pics that I have taken throughout the UK over the last 3 years.  Split into sub galleries for Caithness, Scotland, England & Wales.  A few have never been seen before.  Some of the pics are shown here.

Caithness Open Badminton tournament

The annual Caithness Open badminton tournament was held on Friday and Saturday, with players from Shetland to Edinburgh.  I was at the Thurso High School games hall for a brief period on Saturday afternoon.  The winners were;

Mens doubles - James Henderson & Mark MacKay
Ladies doubles - Casey Sangster & Carole Mowat (first ever win at this event)
Mixed doubles - Mark MacKay & Shona Keith
Mens singles - Mark MacKay
Ladies singles - Shona Keith

Old Keiss Castle

Old Keiss castle taken at sunrise on Saturday morning.  The new castle is 500 yards inland from the old one.

Caithness beat Waysiders Drumpellier 27-22 at Millbank today, but left it late by scoring two tries (by Mark Anderson and Stevie Campbell) in the last 10 minutes, both converted by Liam Brims.

I caught the second half when the Greens were leading 10-6.

The Greens Scrum Half Graham Fryer was the man of the match.

Wick Academy drew 2-2 away to Fort William after being 2-0 down.

Thurso beat Balintore 4-2 (away) to win the SWL cup and Halkirk beat Bonar Bridge 6-1 (away) in the Football Times cup.

The Societies Awards for February

This pic of the Glasgow Science Museum won a gold award in The Socieities monthly competition for February and goes forward to the latter stages of the 2011 Photographer of the Year awards in the architectural exteriors category. The viewing tower was closed to the public, so I didn't get a grand view of Glasgow.

Thurso vs Invergordon

A busy Saturday afternoon of sport started off by catching the first half of the Thurso vs Invergordon cup tie at the Dammies.  Mark Nichol scored the only goal in the half.  The final score was 3-0.

Caithness RFC vs Lasswade

Caithness played Lasswade in the 2nd round of the National Shield and narrowly lost 14-18.  Lasswade play in National Div 1 (one division higher than Caithness) and are running away with the league title, so it was a great performance by the Greens.  It was 8-15 at half time. I caught the 2nd half and there were no tries, just 3 penalties (two to Caithness scored by Liam Brims).
