I was due to attend the SWPP convention and Photographer of the Year awards this weekend in London, but looking at the weather forecast for the South of England earlier in the week, I decided not to go.
This decision combined with the big thaw in Caithness, gave the chance to try out my new camera (Canon 7D) and lens (Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM) at the Wick vs Brora local derby match. My first football match since 28th November. The camera was fully tested as the poor lighting meant I was at ISO 6400 and wide open at f2.8 for the second half (and still only got a shutter speed of 1/320 sec)
Wick won 2-1 in a scrappy match where tempers became frayed near the end and the yellow card was flashed a few times.
Wick keeper Alan Bokas got sent off in the 43rd minute for taking down John Cameron 1 yard from the goal line - see below. Centre Half Andrew MacLeod took over in goals and won the man of the match award.
