The annual Caithness badminton invitation event is reckoned to be the biggest in Scotland outwith the national championships. 80 players from Shetland to Edinburgh converged on Thurso High School over this Friday and Saturday.
The singles were held on Friday and Caithness player Mark MacKay beat Edinburgh's Craig Lamb (immediately above) in the best final ever seen in Caithness. Mark (in blue) won 2-0, but both sets went to a nail biting tie break. The play was so fast, it was difficult to catch on camera.
Caithness's Carol Mowat (above) reached the ladies final, but just lost out.
