Caithness RFC U16s vs Orkney
Caithness RFC U16s played Orkney on Sunday at a sunny Millbank in a league match. A lot of the Caithness lads were a year younger than the opposition who were much bigger, stronger and faster. Early in the second half Caithness were behind by 17-12 and nearly scored a try to make it 17-17, but Orkney's strength proved too much and they pulled away to win 41-12 (7 tries and 3 conversions).
I was impressed at the standard of rugby and by the way the Caithness lads got stuck in and showed no fear in tackling the much bigger opposition.
Unfortunately one of the Caithness players broke his leg due to pure bad luck. He was tackled into touch and his leg hit the Caithness coach Kenny Russell. The ambulance had to be called for the nasty injury.
