Halkirk Utd vs Alness

Grant MacNab is felled on the edge of the penalty box to win a 90th minute penalty
Halkirk Utd just scraped a 2-1 win against a plucky Alness at the Recreation Park today. A fair draw was on the cards until Gavin Henderson scored a 90th minute penalty. Halkirk misfired throughout the game which was littered with yellow cards and a sending off (Alness player) - even though it was not a "dirty" match.

Alness went 1-0 up after 8mins when Alness striker Stuart Murray blasted a superb shot into the top corner. Chris Sutherland equalised after 13mins by taking advantage of a defensive mix up and tapping into an empty net. Grant MacNab was felled on the edge of the penalty box in the 90th minute to win a penalty. The Alness players hotly disputed the decision. Gavin Henderson blasted the ball straight down the middle to win the game.

Sub Martin Banks was very lively and missed a sitter and a great chance at the very end of the match.

I haven't heard how Thurso got on versus Muir of Ord. Wick won 2-0 at Formartine Utd. Caithness RFC were not playing today.
