Caithness RFC U16s v Highland (12-32)

Caithness RFC U16s lost 32-12 vs Highland at Millbank today in a cup tie. The conditions were one of the worst I have ever seen, with a strong wind and rain in the first half and a blizzard for most of the 2nd half. The pitch was like a quagmire and was badly cut up from the game played the day before (Orkney vs Ross Sutherland).

Highland scored 6 tries and one conversion, whilst Caithness got 2 tries and one conversion. The Inverness side were just too strong and powerful for the young Greens, who never-the-less got stuck in right to the very end and scored a last minute try.

Orkney RFC U18s vs Ross Sutherland (18-12)

Orkney RFC U18s played Ross Sutherland at the neutral venue of Thurso's Millbank today, in very wintry and cold conditions. Orkney ran out 18-12 winners in a closely fought match. Orkney scored a try and a penalty to go 8-0 in front before Ross scored a try late in the first half.

Ross turned up the heat early in the 2nd half and scored a converted try to go 12-8 up. However, Orkney piled on the pressure to score two unconverted tries. Fair play to the lads in putting on a good flowing match in atrocious conditions. This was the only game in Caithness today.
