Halkirk vs Wick Thistle (2-1)
Halkirk beat Wick Thistle 2-1 in the Caithness AFA Division 1 league last night. I caught the 2nd half, with it being 1-1 at half-time. Ruari McCartney scored the winner with a back heel tap in from 12 inches. Thistle keeper James More had some outstanding saves to keep the score down.

Halkirk had a very comfortable win of 5 goals to nil versus Thurso Swifts at the Dammies in the Highland Amateur Cup today. The match started off in hailstorm and ended in brilliant sunshine.
Ian Mackay scored two and Ruari McCartney got a hat trick. It was 2-0 when Swifts hit the post with a header, but that was their only real threat to the Halkirk goal. 3 nil at half-time and Ruari scored 2 in 2nd half. Swifts had a player sent off in the 2nd half for taking a wild kick at a Halkirk player.

Northern Times Final - Orkney vs Golspie (0-2)
The final of the Northern Times cup was played at Thurso Dammies today in brilliant sunshine. Golspie won 2-0. Orkney dominated the first half but didn't take chances. James Murray scored with a tap in after 46mins and he set up James Maclean in 47th minute. The Golspie defence held firm and their goalie Steven Campbell made a brilliant top corner save near the end to deny a consolation goal.

SWL cup final - Halkirk Utd v Golspie (2-2, 3-4 pens)
Golspie beat Halkirk Utd on penalties in the SWL cup final in Brora last night. Gordie MacNab put Halkirk two up, but Golspie changed formation mid-way through the 2nd half and James Murray and Marc Gair scored with headers. The game went straight to penalties and after 10 penalties it was 3-3. Stuart Sinclair blasted over in the sudden death shoot-out to hand Golspie the cup.
