A large crowd watched a very impressive strongman competition at John 'O Groats. The two car parks were full before 12noon and the showfield had to be opened to allow cars to park within walking distance.
The only competitor in the heavyweight class was local man Kev MacGregor (after two unfortunate late call offs). The stone lift and carry was abandoned after the stone split into two pieces at the end of the first attempt.
A report will be in the P&J tomorrow (Monday 19th) and the Caithness Courier or John 'O Groat Journal.
The results for the lightweight class are;
1st Kevin Doig, Inverness
2nd Daz MacNab, Motherwell
3rd Mike Elder, Thurso
4th= Calum Lewis, Orkney
4th= Kris Hamilton, Wick
6th Andy Nicolson, Wick
7th Dave Shand, Wick
8th Andrew Aitken, Wick
