My 13 year old son, Chris, grabbed my spare camera and took the above photos with very little prompting from me. Quite a few are better than my pics! He cannot decide which is the best one for the Gala photo competition.

The Caithness Riding Club held its annual summer (!) show at Bylbtser today. It was postponed from June due to the rain and it was nearly postponed again. It rained during the night and during the whole show, apart from 45 mins when the midges came out and attacked everyone. The ground was a huge wet quagmire in places. Most cars with trailers struggled to get out of the exit gate, even with the ponies removed.

Entries seemed to be lightly down and the show finished very early at 1.30pm. Not the best of days for taking photos and I didn't get as many as usual - very hard to keep the camera and lens dry.

Only 4 floats at the Thurso Gala tonight, but lots of foot collectors and a big crowd.

The Societies awards for July

I was awarded two silvers for July in The Societies monthly competition. One of the North Highland College's "Dome" in Thurso prior to the construction of the new building. The other was taken during round 3 of the Caithness Motocross club's race series at Ravenshill by Thurso.

Thurso Acks vs Halkirk

Halkirk played Thurso Acks at a very damp and misty Dammies tonight. It was 3-1 to Halkirk when I left at half time. All the goals were well taken crackers.

Davie Cooper Memorial Cup

The Davie Cooper Memorial Cup was played at Naver's artificial pitch between Thurso Rangers and Thurso Spartans on Sunday. Rangers won the 7-a-side match 6-3 and the man of the match was Rangers player Willie Inrig.
