Halkirk Utd started the defence of the league championship against Balintore yesterday and could only manage a 4-4 draw at home. Halkirk had 5 players missing and Balintore took a 1-0 lead early on before the Anglers got into gear and scored 3 before half-time (Paul Mackay, Chris Sutherland and Nigel MacKenzie). Balintore got one back early in the 2nd half, before Martin Bain restored the 2 goal cushion. Halkirk defence went to sleep and shipped two goals in the last 10 mins.
Halkirk could easily have scored 7 or 8, but just could not find the net.
