Wick Academy beat Rothes 5-0 today at Harmsworth Park to go five points clear at the top of the Highland League as Cove Rangers game was postponed. Gary Manson played his 400th match and was captain for the game. The weather was perfect for the large crowd - until the last 10 mins when a hail storm struck.

Luckasz Geruzel scored in the first half and then Richard MacAdie scored to make it 2-0 at half-time. The first half was pretty poor. Rothes goalie Greg Sim pulled down Richard MacAdie at the start of the 2nd half and got sent off. Luckasz Geruzel scored from the spot and it was game over. Wick moved up a gear and Richard MacAdie scored with a cracking 30 yard shot into the top corner. Richard then completed his hat-trick with a late penalty. Davie Allan hit the post late on. The score could have been a lot more, but the Rothes goalie and his replacement were in top form.

Pics from the game should in the Sunday Post tomorrow and the P&J on Monday.

Thurso's game vs Muir of Ord was postponed. Halkirk Utd had no game. Caithness RFC's away game was also postponed. Only two other Highland League games were played today. Brora lost 4-3 at home to Nairn County and Fort William beat Strathspey Thistle 1-0.
