Alan Larnach fires in 2nd goal
Staxigoe Utd beat a stuffy Watten side 3-0 in the Highland Amateur cup. Most of the game was played in a hail storm. Alan Larnach got two in the first half and Colin Sinclair got a third early in the 2nd. Connor Dunnet had some great saves in the Watten goal and brilliantly saved an early penalty from Martin Banks.

Halkirk vs Pentland Utd (2-5)

The Caithness Summer football season kicked off tonight. I joined the Halkirk vs Pentland Utd game at Morrison Park, midway through the 1st half and it was 1-1. Utd scored a 2nd and James MacLean headed a 3rd just before half-time.

Halkirk should have scored early in the 2nd half and gave Utd several frights. James Murray come on as sub and scored a 4th. Marc Coghill scored a penalty with 5 mins to go and James Murray added a 5th in the last minute, to make it 5-2 for Utd. If Halkirk took their chances the score would have been much closer.

Caithness RFC vs Glenrothes (26-23)

I caught some of the first half action between Caithness and Glenrothes and left when the Greens were 19-0 in front. Glenrothes moved up a gear and were 23-19 in the lead with only a minute to go. Hamish Coghill then scored a try to send the large crowd wild with delight. Caithness won 26-23. Man of the match was young Shaun Gunn.
