James Green receives the John Mackay cup from Irene Mackay

George MacKay receives the Bill Mackay trophy from Margaret MacKay
Robert MacKay won the prize for longest drive

The annual Mackay's of Keiss golf challenge was held yesterday at the Wick Golf Club. 23 competitors from as far away as Edinburgh and Aberdeen battled it out for the John MacKay cup (overall winner) and the Bill Mackay trophy (best at the par 3's).

In bright but windy conditions the clear winner with an incredible stableford score of 43 was James Green. His handicap is 8 and he went round in a gross score of 71. The evergreen George MacKay outshone his wife Marion to win the Bill MacKay trophy and the prize for nearest to the pin at the 2nd hole. George and Marions's son Robert made it a great day for the family by winning the prize for the longest drive at the 5th hole.

A large turnout of friends and family (from as far away as Switzerland) enjoyed a meal at the Norseman Hotel before the prizes were presented.
