Halkirk Utd vs Thurso (1-1)

Halkirk Utd and Thurso drew 1-1 at Morrison Park yesterday. I caught the first 40 mins and it was a very scrappy 0-0 draw. I heard there were lots of bookings and a sending off.

Caithness RFC vs St Andrews University (131-0)

Caithness RFC beat St Andrews University 131-0 at Millbank yesterday. The Greens were just a few points short of the club record. I had to leave after 25 mins to go to the Wick Academy game and the score was 29-0, so I missed 102 points!

Kincraig Wildlife Park

I visited the Kincraig Wildlife Park near Aviemore for the first time in 25 years last week. A great place to spend a few hours watching loads of different animals including Amur tigers, polar bears, Scottish wildcats and wolverines. It was difficult to get good clear pics through the mesh wire fences or glass viewing windows.

Luis Eyre Open winner

The UK Pro Surf Tour held the Thurso Surf Festival at Thurso East over the weekend. I caught the action on Sunday when the waves were the best ever seen for a UK Pro Surf event. Huge barrel waves kept rolling in and during the open final two surfers scored the maximum score of 10.

Luis Eyre from Manchester won the open final. Other classes were under 16s, U18 boys, U18 girls, Junior Pro and Ladies.
